where it all began
Here's where my story starts
and I'd bet part of it sounds familiar.
I was good at my job. I was also burnt out by it - giving it my best hours and getting back the same fixed number, no matter what I brought. Somewhere along the way I realized what actually bothered me: one employer held all the power over my income, and I'd never voted on that arrangement.
I didn't want a lottery ticket. I wanted two things: work I could feel something for, and a second income stream, so no single paycheck could decide my life. So I started building on the side.
and then life happened: kids arrived and my time shrank to pockets.
You learn to ask, every single session: what actually moves the needle? And you do only that.
That focus built more than I expected. Today I run multiple income streams, including three Etsy shops selling digital printables - each in the top 5% of shops on the platform. I opened the first in 2021. The most recent one made its first sale within 5 days and was selling daily by day 7.
Almost all of it was built in the margins of ordinary days. Most of it as a mom.
A naptime here. A quiet evening there. That constraint turned out to be the best business teacher I've ever had. With 30-60 minutes, you can't afford busywork.
